Myth 3. - Forests are single stands or groups of trees under one or more ownership.

In reality, forests are highly ordered arrangements of living organisms, living in, on and near trees of all ecological stages, in such a highly ordered fashion, it assures high quality survival for all member.

While forests do contain groups of trees, the associates deserve recognition and protection, i.e., respect.  Forests are made up of many connections.  When connections are broke, things don't work.  There is a whole other world underground in a forest.  Trees of a forest are connected in two specific ways.  1. Woody root grafts (and of different species).  2. Fungi connections.  It is just about impossible to tell where tree ends and soil begins.

You cannot plant a forest.

Single stands or groups of trees under one or more ownership would be more closely the definition of  tree farms, trees of a cities ("urban forest" is a poor term), a nursery, a shopping mall, etc.
