Proper Care of Trees
Call your local tree guru, John A. Keslick, Jr. A U.S.
Army veteran and former Certified Landscape Maintenance Supervisor and
Operator in Florida, John has attended many Tree Biology workshops around
the country including one in Salt Lake City, Utah, and several in Boone,
N.C. John's central thesis is a systematic approach in the proper care
of trees, lawns and gardens without the use of pesticides. It is not enough
to treat symptoms but it is necessary to understand how they are caused.
Ninety-five percent of problems caused by fungus and other pests can be
prevented by proper planting, pruning and soil maintenance. He has found
it rather easy to convince property owners of the soundness of his principles.
To further education he has distributed Dr. Alex L. Shigo's new book TREE
BASICS to local schools, libraries, etc. John is the inventor of CAMB GUARDS,
a product that is tree friendly. It is a broad, belt-like strapping for
staking trees, allowing them to sway without injury to the bark. It is
made from used tractor-trailer inner tubes and replaces the earlier wire
in a hose. Universities involved with the study of this product include
Cornell, North Carolina, Kent, Temple and others.
